Loch Ness is an area of outstanding beauty and mystery, if you are a sceptic about the Loch Ness monster then take a trip on the loch down to Urquhart Castle and experience the atmosphere of the loch and you may end up leaving less certain that nothing exists. Loch Ness is one of Scotland’s longest and deepest lochs and you can travel down the Great Glen between Inverness to Fort William, a journey of a couple of hours from one side of Scotland to the other. The waterways and lochs between Inverness and Fort William are connected by the Caledonian Canal, the longest loch being Loch Ness. This area is popular with sailing and power boats and you can charter a boat for a boating holiday on this waterway.
Caley Cruisers have a range of outstanding boats for charter on Loch Ness and waterways of the Great Glen.

Holiday in the Highlands
For a holiday in the Highlands you need to consider if you wish to travel around and see many different places by driving or travelling by other means and staying in bed and breakfasts in private homes or in Hotels. In Scotland as in other areas there is the tradition of private homes offering bed and breakfast accommodation and this helps bring employment to areas where there is often few jobs. The accommodation may be graded by the Scottish Tourist Board or they may not have gone for this scheme. Throughout Scotland you will find a warm and friendly welcome and you can often find it nice helpful staying in privately run B&B accommodation where the owners will be able to tell you about the local area. Hotels also offer a warm welcome to tourists and you will find small privately owned and run hotels throughout the Scottish Highlands, often with a traditional character to them as well as comfort and great food in beautiful surroundings. By staying in a Scottish hotel or bed and breakfast you can plan your trip around the Highlands and see more of Scotland than staying in one place.
Self Catering Holidays in Scotland
There are many advantages to staying in a self catering accommodation; the most important one in our opinion is the freedom to plan your day and travel itinerary, you choose when to get up, when to eat and where to go. It is often more relaxing to stay in a cottage or other style of self catering accommodation than in a large hotel, you can kick off your shoes and relax, and the wine and meals if often cheaper! You can of course eat out and save on washing up, the choice is yours – the great thing about being on holiday.
